Greetings on behalf of Kalusugan Coalition's Project AsPIRE!
We are a health initiative that brings together community members and academic researchers to improve cardiovascular health, particularly hypertension, for Filipino Americans living in New York and New Jersey. Project AsPIRE provides free health screenings to Filipinos in these areas, and helps monitor indicators of hypertension (high blood pressure) and other cardiovascular conditions.
We are looking for volunteers and participants for an upcoming health screening in Jersey City, NJ, and would love to have you!
UPCOMING HEALTH SCREENING
Date: THIS SUNDAY, February 1, 2009
Time: Please be at the site by 930 a.m. for a quick orientation; to end by 1 pm.
Location: 115 Kensington Avenue, Jersey City, NJ. (between West Side Ave & JFK, by St. Aloysius Church)
Directions: Take NJT#80, Montgomery/Westside, Newport Mall busses to St. Aloysius Church. or from Journal Square, take JFK heading west, and turn right at Kensington avenue.
Volunteer Details
You will be assigned one of the following duties:
- Directing participants to screening stations
- Filling out questionnaires with participants
- Weighing and measuring participants
- Taking participant's blood pressure with electric monitors
A brief orientation will be provided, to ensure you feel comfortable with your volunteer task! Basic understanding of conversational Pilipino would be nice, but is not required.
